CareOregon coverage is changing at Be Well. Many of your providers are continuing at our sister clinics.
Beginning October 20, due to CareOregon cancelling our contract for no fault, Be Well will no longer be able to accept CareOregon.
The good news: many Be Well providers will continue seeing CareOregon patients through our trusted sister clinics:
- Lilac Family Care * Sister clinic Call/text: (971) 229-2140 · Fax: (971) 233-6416

Option 1: Explore other OHP coverage
You can explore Trillium OHP or OHSU Health OHP, which may allow you to continue seeing multiple providers at Be Well.
OR
Option 2: Keep your CareOregon coverage
You can keep your CareOregon coverage and continue seeing the Be Well providers you already know, just at our sister clinics.
You do not have to change your OHP coverage. What works best depends on the providers and services that are important to your overall healthcare.

You have options for continuing your care
The provider chart above shows where you can continue seeing your Be Well providers if you choose to stay with CareOregon.
If continuing care with your providers at Be Well is important to you, you may also have the option to change your OHP coverage to Trillium or OHSU Health. Most Be Well providers will continue seeing OHP patients through Trillium and OHSU at Be Well after October 20.
You do not need to change your OHP coverage unless you decide this is best for your care. We encourage you to consider your whole healthcare team and choose the OHP plan that best supports your overall healthcare needs.
Keep care at Be Well
Be Well providers also participate with Trillium OHP and OHSU Health OHP. If keeping several of your providers together at Be Well is important to you, you can research whether one of these options also works for the rest of your healthcare.
Follow your providers
Many Be Well providers will continue accepting CareOregon at the partner clinics shown above. If the providers you want to keep are available with CareOregon, you can continue your CareOregon coverage and see them at their new locations.
Think about your whole care team
Neither option is right for everyone. Before changing OHP coverage, consider the care you receive outside Be Well, too.
Do you have an important primary care provider, therapist, specialist, hospital system, prescription, treatment, or other healthcare service that you need or want to keep?
Before changing coverage, check whether those important providers and services participate with the OHP option you’re considering.
If CareOregon works best for your overall healthcare, staying with CareOregon is an option.
Want to explore another OHP option?
You do not have to change your OHP coverage because Be Well's CareOregon contract is ending. If you're considering another OHP option, the resources below can help you research whether it works for both your Be Well providers and the rest of your healthcare. There isn't one OHP option that's best for everyone. Before changing coverage, check the providers and services that are most important to you.

Frequently asked questions
We know changing health plans can be confusing, especially if you have multiple providers or complex healthcare needs. Below are answers to some of the most common questions.
+ Why is this happening? Why is Be Well leaving CareOregon?
Be Well is not leaving CareOregon by choice. We received notice that CareOregon is closing Be Well's Medicaid provider contract without cause. This means that CareOregon did not identify a specific reason for ending our contract.
CareOregon has publicly acknowledged that it is navigating a challenging financial environment, including rising healthcare costs and anticipated challenges to federal and state Medicaid funding. We have also seen significant changes to CareOregon's broader provider networks over the past year, as they have closed many contracts in Multnomah County.
This is heartbreaking news for Be Well as well. Our commitment to providing inclusive, accessible care has not changed. We are doing everything we can to preserve continuity of care and give our patients meaningful options for continuing with the Be Well providers they know and trust.
We are also working with legal counsel to advocate on behalf of Be Well and our patients. If anything changes regarding our CareOregon contract, we will let our community know as soon as possible.
+ Can I keep seeing my current Be Well providers if I stay with CareOregon?
In many cases, yes. We've found new CareOregon homes for many Be Well providers through trusted partner clinics, including Asha Integrative Wellness, Lilac Family Care, and TeamWorks Nonprofit.
Your provider may see you at a different clinic depending on your coverage. Use the provider chart above to find your provider and see where they will be available with CareOregon after October 20.
Some providers will not be available with CareOregon. Their other available options are also shown in the chart.
Be Well services—including acupuncture, chiropractic, PT, OT, and nutrition and naturopathic—will no longer be available as one-on-one CareOregon-covered services at Be Well after October 20, 2026, but many providers are available at our sister clinics: Lilac Family Care and ASHA.
Remaining with CareOregon is a valid choice. If CareOregon best supports your primary care, specialists, or other essential or mental healthcare needs, please take those considerations seriously when deciding what is best for you.
+ Why is my provider moving to another clinic?
Most Be Well providers are not leaving Be Well. They will continue to be available at Be Well for many types of coverage, including Trillium OHP, OHSU Health OHP, Kaiser OHP, most private insurance plans, VA, motor vehicle accident insurance, and eligible time-of-service/cash out-of-pocket visits.
Because CareOregon has ended its contract with Be Well, many of our providers are also arranging to see CareOregon members at one of our sister or partner clinics, including Lilac Family Care, and Asha Integrative Wellness.
This gives patients a few different options:
If you would like to continue seeing your Be Well providers together at Be Well, you may have the option to change your OHP coverage to Trillium, OHSU Health OHP, or Kaiser OHP, depending on your eligibility and your providers' participation with that plan.
If you would like to keep your CareOregon coverage, you may still be able to see many of the same providers, but your appointments may take place across different clinic locations.
You do not necessarily need to change your OHP plan. Our goal is to help you understand where your providers will be available so you can choose the coverage and care arrangement that works best for your overall healthcare needs.

You are welcome to text any of the clinics above to follow your provider! They may not have availability set up yet, but are prioritizing current patients for as soon as they are onboarded to their new locations for CareOregon. Texting ahead to get on the call back list is a good idea.
+I’m ready to follow my provider to their new CareOregon clinic. What do I do next?
If the provider guide shows that your provider will be seeing CareOregon patients at Lilac Family Care, Asha Integrative Wellness, or another clinic, you can send a message to your provider in your Charm EHR portal to let them know you will be keeping CareOregon and following them to their new clinic. The provider will send you an ROI (release of records) for you to fill out in Charm. Once the ROI is filled out, this will add you to their waitlist at the new clinic. Please do not text the main Be Well line. Our admin team will be doing their very best to support the pivot and will not have the bandwidth to reply to ROI requests via text message.
Some providers are still being onboarded at their new clinics, so the websites and online scheduling may not reflect their availability yet.
To send a message to your provider in Charm:
- Log in to Charm. (If you never created a Charm patient portal account, send us a message via 503-217-4457 to activate your account.)
- Click on your name in the drop down.
- Choose Be Well Holistic Health - 7 Gates - Teamworks.
- Click on “messages.”
- Hit the blue “compose” button.
- In the “to” section, begin typing the name of your provider.
- Click on their name.
- Write “Staying with CareOregon - following you to the new clinic” in the subject line.
- Request the ROI to begin the process of following them to their new clinic in the body of the message.
- Hit the blue “send” button.
+ If I've already used all 30 of my holistic/physical health visits with CareOregon for 2026, will I get more visits if I change OHP plans?
Possibly yes, but this is not guaranteed. Different OHP plans may administer benefits, visit limits, and authorizations differently. A change in coverage may result in a separately administered visit count or additional available visits.
For CareOregon, the 30 visit annual visit limit is shared across several services, including acupuncture, chiropractic, physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy.
A plan change may result in a separately administered visit count.
+ What if I have Columbia Pacific, Jackson Care Connect, or Care Oregon Advantage?
These plans are subsidiary of Care Oregon and the contract termination applies to members who have these plans. The basic options are follow your provider to a Sister clinic or switch coordinated care organizations to Trillium, OHSU or Ohp Kaiser.
+ How am I supposed to choose between my Be Well providers and a specialist who only accepts CareOregon?
This is a very difficult predicament, and unfortunately there may not be a perfect answer. If you have an essential specialist—such as an oncologist, nephrologist, gastroenterologist, neurologist, or another provider—who only accepts CareOregon, changing your health plan in order to continue care at Be Well via Trillium/ OHSU OHP could mean losing access to that specialist.
We encourage you to make your decision based on the providers who are most critical to your health and the services that would be hardest to replace. Before changing plans, contact your important specialists and confirm which OHP plans they accept. For some patients, remaining with CareOregon may be the best or only reasonable choice, even though that means they will need to access their Be Well provider at a trusted sister clinic after 10/20/26.
We don't want losing CareOregon coverage at Be Well to mean losing your Be Well community. We are actively developing affordable, non-Medicaid options for patients who need to remain with CareOregon, but want to maintain a relationship with their Be Well providers.
These options will include affordable sliding scale:
- Group community acupuncture
- Group community chiropractic
- Group nutrition support
- Group online physical therapy education and workshops
- Inclusive sliding-scale rates whenever possible
These programs cannot replace all of the individualized one-on-one care that patients previously received through their CareOregon Medicaid benefits, as patients who remain with CareOregon will no longer be able to receive one-on-one acupuncture, chiropractic, PT, OT, and nutrition services at Be Well through their CareOregon coverage. However, our goal is to create as many accessible pathways as we can for CareOregon patients who want to remain connected to their Be Well providers and community.
Please prioritize the healthcare relationships that are most essential to your safety and continuity of care. Be Well will continue looking for creative ways to support you, regardless of which OHP plan you ultimately need to choose.
+ I have CareOregon OHP. Can I choose to pay out of pocket to continue receiving care at Be Well?
In some circumstances, yes.
Oregon Medicaid rules generally protect OHP members from being billed for covered healthcare services. However, Oregon also allows an OHP member to knowingly and voluntarily choose to privately pay for a covered service when specific requirements are followed.
This means that having CareOregon does not necessarily mean that you are prohibited from ever paying privately for care.
Be Well will need to confirm that the private-pay option is appropriate for your particular service and situation before scheduling care this way.
+ I thought Medicaid patients weren't allowed to pay out of pocket. What changed?
The general rule is that healthcare providers cannot simply bill an OHP member for a service that should have been covered by Medicaid.
There is, however, an important exception in Oregon's Medicaid rules.
An OHP member may request to privately pay for a covered service if they knowingly and voluntarily choose to do so and complete the required paperwork before receiving the service.
This is different from a clinic unexpectedly sending you a bill after your insurance does not pay.
+ Does my CareOregon benefit have to be exhausted before I can privately pay?
Not necessarily.
There are two different circumstances in which private payment may be possible:
-
Your benefit is no longer available for the
service.
For example, you may have reached your 30 visit benefit limit, or CareOregon may have denied authorization for additional treatment. In these circumstances, you may choose to continue treatment privately. -
The service is still a covered OHP benefit, but
you voluntarily choose to receive it privately at Be
Well.
Oregon rules and “Agree to Pay form” for an OHP member to knowingly and voluntarily choose to privately pay for a service that would otherwise be covered at another clinic.
+ Do I have to sign something?
Yes.
Oregon requires an Agreement to Pay to be completed before the privately paid service is provided.
The form will explain:
- Whether the service is normally covered by OHP/CareOregon
- Why it is being provided on a private-pay basis
- Your estimated cost
- Your other options for obtaining covered care
- That choosing private payment is completely voluntary
+ If I privately pay Be Well, will you also bill CareOregon?
No.
A service that you have voluntarily agreed to pay for privately under this process will not also be submitted to CareOregon, OHP, or another insurance payer for payment.
There cannot be both private payment and an insurance claim for the same service.
+ Can Be Well charge folk with OHP their normal cash rate?
Oregon places special limits on what an OHP member can be charged when they voluntarily choose to privately pay for a service that is otherwise covered by OHP.
For a covered service, the amount charged to you cannot be more than the amount the insurance company would pay for that service.
Be Well offers Time of Service and reduced rates for financial hardship for most care.
+ What if I could get the same service from another CareOregon provider?
You are always welcome to use your CareOregon benefits with an available in-network provider, outside Be Well.
However, Oregon rules also recognize that an OHP member may knowingly and voluntarily choose private payment for a covered service when the Agree to Pay form is signed.
You do not have to choose private payment in order to receive healthcare. This is simply an additional option that may be available if continuing care with a particular Be Well provider is important to you.
+ Will choosing private pay affect my CareOregon coverage?
Choosing to privately pay for a particular service does not mean that you are giving up your CareOregon insurance.
Your CareOregon coverage can still be used for your other covered healthcare services.
The private-pay agreement applies only to the specific services identified in your Agreement to Pay at Be Well.
+ Can I keep my Be Well naturopath through CareOregon but switch my acupuncture, chiropractic, PT, or OT coverage to Trillium?
No, you cannot divide your OHP physical-health enrollment between two CCOs at the same time—for example, keeping CareOregon for one group of providers while enrolling in Trillium for another.
Because changing your CCO will affect your broader healthcare network, please consider all of your providers before making a change.
+ If I switch plans after October 20 but still have unused visits authorized by CareOregon, can I still use those authorized visits?
No. An authorization from one health plan does not transfer to another.
Once your CareOregon enrollment ends, remaining CareOregon-authorized visits cannot be billed to CareOregon. If your new plan requires authorization for the service, your provider will need to submit a new prior authorization request to that plan.
Consider your existing authorizations when deciding whether and when a coverage change makes sense for you. This may be especially important to consider regarding hard to get authorizations, such as MRI's, surgeries, etc.
+ Can I use the rest of my CareOregon visits before switching plans?
Yes, if the visits are medically necessary and otherwise covered and authorized, they may be used before 10/20/26.
You may continue receiving medically necessary covered care through CareOregon while your CareOregon coverage and Be Well's participation remain active through 10/20/26. We encourage patients to follow their provider's recommended treatment plan.
+ I don't know whether my specialists outside of Be Well accept Trillium, Kaiser OHP, or OHSU Health. Can someone help me figure this out?
Please research your other providers before changing plans. This is especially important if you see specialists, have complex medical needs, or have outside providers who may be difficult to replace.
You can:
- Use the provider directories linked above.
- Call the prospective health plan and ask whether each of your providers is in network.
- Contact your providers directly and ask which OHP plans they currently accept or if they are willing or able to bill out of network.
Because Be Well serves nearly 3,000 patients, many of whom have chronic or complex healthcare needs, our small administrative team unfortunately will not have the capacity to individually research every patient's outside providers.
We will provide plan contact information and resources to help you conduct this research.
+ Can providers who aren't in network with my new plan still see me as an out-of-network provider?
Out-of-network coverage varies based on the health plan, provider type, service, authorization requirements, and individual circumstances.
If maintaining a particular provider is important to you, contact both the provider and the health plan you are considering before making a coverage change. Ask whether out-of-network services can be covered, whether prior authorization is required, and whether the provider is willing and able to bill the plan.
Do not assume that changing OHP plans will preserve access to an out-of-network provider.
+ If I already changed my Oregon Health Plan coordinated care organization once this year, can I change it again?
Possibly. Generally, OHP limits how often members can voluntarily change their coordinated care organization (CCO). However, there may be exceptions when there has been a significant change in your access to care.
Since your current provider is no longer in network with CareOregon, tell OHP Client Services this when you request the change. You may be eligible to change CCOs again, even if you have already made a change during the current calendar year.
+ What if I change plans and then discover that an important provider isn't covered?
This is why we strongly encourage everyone to research before switching. Changing your health plan can affect your entire care team—not just your care at Be Well.
Make a list of the providers and services that are most important to you, including:
- Primary care
- Specialists
- Mental health providers
- Naturopathic providers
- Acupuncture, chiropractic, PT, OT, and speech therapy
Then check those providers and services with the plan you are considering.
Please don't feel pressured to change plans. Our goal is to give you enough information and time to make the choice that best protects your overall continuity of care.
+ Can I call CareOregon for help finding new providers?
Yes. If you are staying with CareOregon, CareOregon can help you find providers within its network.
You can call CareOregon Customer Service at 503-416-4100 or toll-free at 1-800-224-4840 (TTY 711), Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. CareOregon has a provider directory organized by specialty, and its Customer Service team can help members identify providers within the CareOregon network.
You can ask for help finding a new provider for the services you previously received at Be Well, including acupuncture, chiropractic, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nutrition, or other healthcare services.
Please note: the CareOregon Customer Service representative you speak with may not yet have specific information about Be Well's contract ending. Provider directories and internal systems can take time to reflect network changes. This does not prevent you from asking CareOregon for help finding other providers within its network.
You can also use CareOregon's online Find Care provider directory to research providers by specialty.
Be Well is also building our own community resource list. If you have a trusted provider outside of Be Well who accepts CareOregon—and you have had a positive experience with them—please let our administrative team know. We would love to learn about providers our patients trust so that we can continue building a community resource list for patients who choose or need to remain with CareOregon.
Be Well is not recommending one OHP plan over another. If CareOregon best supports your broader healthcare needs, our goal is to help make your transition to other CareOregon providers as supported and informed as possible.
+ Can I pay sliding-scale rates out of pocket for physical medicine at Be Well?
Yes. We're committed to keeping care accessible regardless of insurance. We currently offer drop-in Community Acupuncture on a $15–$45 sliding scale, and we're developing similar lower-cost community clinics for chiropractic and physical therapy so patients can continue seeing Be Well providers at accessible out-of-pocket rates.
+ Why can't Be Well be more helpful in telling me which OHP option to choose?
We know this may feel a little different from the kind of support you're used to receiving from us.
We would love to simply tell you which option will work best, but the choice needs to be yours. Oregon has rules designed to prevent healthcare providers from "steering" patients toward a particular OHP plan.
What we can do is give you as much useful information as possible: explain which OHP networks your Be Well providers participate with, help you understand what to consider, and give you resources to research the other providers and services that matter to you.
We're here to help you get the information you need to make an informed decision—we just can't choose or recommend an OHP plan for you.
+ What is happening with nutrition services at Be Well?
Be Well is no longer able to bill CareOregon for traditional medical nutrition services with Madeline and Kastania. We know this may be especially disappointing for patients who have built an ongoing relationship with their nutrition provider.
Madeline and Kastania are not able to bill any Medicaid/OHP plan for medical nutrition services at this time.
This means that changing your Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) would not restore insurance-covered access to Madeline or Kastania for medical nutrition services. If continuing Medicaid-covered medical nutrition is important to you, you would need to seek care from a nutrition provider who is eligible to bill your OHP plan outside Be Well.
There is, however, another option for patients who would like to continue working with Madeline or Kastania.
Both providers are able to offer private-pay nutrition coaching when the service being provided is separate from medical nutrition therapy and is not a Medicaid-covered service. Nutrition coaching may focus on areas such as:
- General nutrition education
- Meal planning
- Food routines
- Grocery planning
- Cooking strategies
- Goal-setting
- Accountability
- Practical support around nourishing yourself
Because these visits are for a non-covered coaching service, rather than medical nutrition therapy billed to insurance, they are available on a private-pay basis:
- Nutrition Coaching: $100 per 60-minute session
- $75 per 60-minute session for patients who qualify for our financial-hardship reduced rate
- Payment is due at the time of service.
- Insurance will not be billed for these visits.
It is important that we keep this distinction clear. Medicaid generally does not allow us to simply convert a Medicaid-covered medical service into a cash-pay service because insurance is unavailable or Be Well cannot bill the patient's plan. Oregon does, however, allow OHP members to choose to pay for services that are genuinely not covered by OHP, subject to Medicaid's requirements for advance notice and agreement to pay.
Our team can help you determine whether the type of support you are looking for can appropriately be provided as nutrition coaching or whether your needs would be better served through covered medical nutrition services with another organization.
+ What if CareOregon OHP is my secondary insurance?
Having private commercial insurance as your primary plan may allow you to continue receiving care at Be Well, even if CareOregon is your secondary plan. Be Well would bill only your primary insurance and could not bill CareOregon. In most circumstances, Be Well also could not charge you the deductible, copayment, coinsurance, or other balance left by your primary insurance. Some services may not be financially possible for Be Well to provide when the primary insurance payment does not cover the cost of care.
+ Can I continue seeing my Be Well provider if I have private insurance as my primary coverage?
Possibly. If Be Well accepts your private commercial insurance, we may be able to continue seeing you and bill that plan as your primary insurance—even though Be Well can no longer accept CareOregon.
+ Which insurance would Be Well bill?
Be Well would bill your private commercial insurance first.
Normally, any remaining copay, deductible, or coinsurance would then be submitted to CareOregon as your secondary insurance. However, because Be Well can no longer accept or bill CareOregon, we would not be able to submit that secondary claim to CareOregon.
+ Can Be Well charge me the amount my private insurance leaves as my responsibility?
Generally, no. Even when CareOregon is secondary, you are still an OHP/Medicaid member and Medicaid’s patient-billing protections usually continue to apply.
Therefore, Be Well generally cannot collect the following amounts from you for a Medicaid-covered service:
- Copayments
- Deductibles
- Coinsurance
- Amounts exceeding your private insurer’s allowed rate
- Other balances left after your private insurance processes the claim
Be Well’s inability to bill CareOregon does not automatically make these amounts your responsibility.
+ What happens to the balance if Be Well cannot bill CareOregon?
Be Well may have to write off the amount identified by your private insurance as patient responsibility.
For example:
- Be Well bills your private insurance $150.
- Your private insurance pays $100.
- The EOB identifies $50 as your deductible or coinsurance.
- Be Well cannot submit the remaining $50 to CareOregon.
- Be Well generally cannot charge you the $50 and may have to write it off.
+ Does having CareOregon secondary mean I cannot receive any care at Be Well?
Not necessarily. If Be Well is able to bill your primary private insurance, you may still be able to receive services covered by that plan.
However, Be Well will need to review your coverage before scheduling because:
- Be Well must be able to bill your private insurance appropriately.
- The service must be covered by your private insurance.
- Be Well cannot bill CareOregon as secondary.
- Be Well generally cannot collect the remaining copay, deductible, coinsurance, or unpaid balance from you.
- Some services may not be financially possible for Be Well to provide when the primary insurance payment does not cover the cost of care.
+ Can I agree to pay the remaining balance myself?
Generally, no. A patient usually cannot waive Medicaid protections or choose to pay privately for a service that Medicaid covers simply because Be Well cannot accept their CareOregon coverage.
+ What should I do before scheduling?
Please give Be Well copies of both your private insurance card and your CareOregon card. Be Well will verify whether we accept your primary insurance and whether the requested service can be provided without billing you for amounts that Medicaid rules prohibit us from collecting.
+ I have CareOregon Advantage (Medicare) as my primary insurance and CareOregon OHP (Medicaid) as my secondary insurance. Can I still see my Be Well providers?
Unfortunately, no. Be Well will not be able to bill for your care if you have CareOregon Advantage as your primary insurance and CareOregon OHP as your secondary insurance.
We know this can be particularly confusing because your primary insurance is Medicare, and you may have previously seen CareOregon Advantage pay for your Be Well services.
The reason is that CareOregon Advantage and CareOregon OHP work together for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. When you have this combination, CareOregon processes the Medicare Advantage claim first and then automatically coordinates the claim with your CareOregon OHP Medicaid coverage. CareOregon specifically instructs providers not to submit a separate secondary claim when a member has CareOregon Advantage plus CareOregon OHP — the Medicaid portion is coordinated automatically after the Medicare claim is processed.
Because Be Well will no longer be eligible to bill CareOregon OHP for your care, we cannot simply bill your CareOregon Advantage Medicare coverage while ignoring your CareOregon Medicaid coverage. Your two CareOregon benefits are connected through the claims process.
What does this mean for me?
If your insurance combination is:
- Primary: CareOregon Advantage / Medicare
- Secondary: CareOregon OHP / Medicaid
Be Well cannot bill either plan for your regular covered services once Be Well's CareOregon participation ends.
Unfortunately, having CareOregon Advantage as your primary insurance does not allow Be Well to bypass the CareOregon OHP restriction.
Be Well may still be able to offer you separate services that are not Medicaid-covered benefits, such as certain community-based programs, classes, workshops, or other non-covered services. We are actively working to expand these options so that CareOregon members can remain connected to the Be Well community whenever possible.
+ What is happening with Occupational Therapy and Vision Therapy with Amy Kalra after October 20?
Beginning after October 20, 2026, Be Well will no longer be able to provide OHP/Medicaid-covered Occupational Therapy (OT) or Vision Therapy with Amy Kalra.
Amy will not be accepting any OHP or Medicaid plans through Be Well, including CareOregon, Kaiser OHP, Trillium, or other Medicaid plans.
We know this is a significant transition for patients who have developed a trusted relationship with Amy. Amy is a highly valued member of our care community, with specialized experience in concussion and post-concussion rehabilitation as well as hand therapy. We are grateful that there are several options for continuing OT care outside of Be Well.
Can I continue seeing Amy somewhere else?
Yes, potentially!
Amy also has her own private practice, Helping Hand PDX, which is separate from Be Well. We highly recommend Amy's private practice for patients who would like to continue working with her.
Amy anticipates being able to support OHP Kaiser patients through Helping Hand PDX in the coming months, and her practice currently has a relatively short wait list.
Helping Hand PDX
Because insurance participation can change, please confirm your specific OHP plan and coverage directly with Helping Hand before scheduling.
I have CareOregon. Where can I receive Occupational Therapy?
While Be Well will no longer be able to provide CareOregon-covered OT after October 20, there are other community options we recommend exploring.
Holistic Community Therapy is led by Dr. Elizabeth Martin and has a team of occupational therapists providing whole-person OT support. Their practice works with adults experiencing concerns such as brain injury, cognitive changes, chronic illness, sensory processing needs, executive-function challenges, and mental health concerns. Their current information indicates that they accept OHP/Medicaid.
Providence Rehabilitation is another option we recommend exploring, particularly for patients needing neurological rehabilitation, concussion support, or hand therapy. Providence's rehabilitation programs include occupational therapy as well as neurological and hand therapy services.
Providence Northeast Rehabilitation
Please verify that the specific Providence clinic and provider you are referred to participates with your particular CareOregon/OHP plan.
What about Vision Therapy?
Be Well will also no longer be able to provide OHP/Medicaid-covered Vision Therapy with Amy after October 20.
Vision-related rehabilitation can be particularly difficult to replace because services and insurance coverage vary considerably between providers. If vision therapy has been an important part of your care, please talk with Amy and your Be Well provider before the transition so we can help identify the most appropriate next step for your individual needs.
What is the bottom line?
After October 20, there will be no OHP/Medicaid-covered Occupational Therapy or Vision Therapy available through Be Well directly.
However, this does not necessarily mean you have to stop receiving OT care. Depending on your insurance and clinical needs, options may include:
- Helping Hand PDX for patients hoping to continue working with Amy, including anticipated access for OHP Kaiser members in the coming months.
- Holistic Community Therapy for CareOregon/OHP members seeking community-based, whole-person occupational therapy.
- Providence Rehabilitation for patients needing neurological rehabilitation, concussion-related support, or hand therapy.
We know that changing trusted providers can be difficult. Our goal is to give you as much information as possible ahead of the transition so that you have time to explore your options and establish care elsewhere when needed.
+ What's ahead for Be Well?
We're still Be Well. Our commitment to inclusive, accessible, community-centered care isn't changing.
We'll continue participating with OHP coverage options, including Trillium, Kaiser OHP, and OHSU Health, while also finding new ways to make care accessible beyond insurance.
We're continuing programs like Community Acupuncture and exploring possible community-based chiropractic and physical therapy programs that wouldn't require OHP coverage.
We're also planning to increase our community partnerships, mutual aid, and trade commerce as creative ways to support one another as healthcare access changes.
We’re here to help you through the transition. Here are the next steps:
