Things to Know About Your Insurance After a Car Accident

After a motor vehicle accident, getting care shouldn't add more stress. In Oregon, your car insurance includes a built-in benefit called Personal Injury Protection (PIP) — and it's designed to make recovery easier.

PIP pays for your medical care, not just car repairs.

Every auto policy in Oregon carries between $15,000 and $25,000 of medically necessary treatment coverage, separate from your health insurance. That means you can begin treatment immediately without worrying about upfront costs or deductibles.

You don't need a referral to start care.

Our team can help you open a PIP claim, verify eligibility, and start your first appointment — often within days. We handle all billing and documentation directly with your insurer.

You can still use PIP even if your accident wasn't recent.

If you're still experiencing pain, brain fog, or other lingering symptoms within two years of the accident, you may still qualify for covered care. We can confirm your eligibility and connect your symptoms to the original injury for proper reimbursement.

We make the process simple and supported.

Be Well's team is trained in MVA charting and medical-necessity documentation, ensuring your records meet both medical and legal standards — keeping your recovery organized and reimbursable from day one.

If Your PIP Runs Out

We'll review your options with you and your attorney. Many patients transition to a third-party claim process; in some cases your standard health insurance may apply for non-accident-related care. We'll help map the cleanest path so your case stays well-documented, compliant, and continuous.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about post-accident recovery at Be Well

🩺 Understanding MVA & Holistic Neurology

What kinds of symptoms can show up after a car accident?

Even a minor accident can disrupt your nervous system. Common symptoms include headaches, neck or back pain, dizziness, brain fog, sensory overload, sleep issues, emotional reactivity, and fatigue. These are signs your brain and body are still in a stress cycle—and with the right support, they're fully treatable.

What is "Holistic Neurology"?

It's an approach unique to Be Well that integrates East Asian medicine, neuroscience, and trauma-informed care to calm the nervous system, reduce neuroinflammation, and restore clarity and function. We look at the whole person—not just the injury site—because true recovery involves both the brain and body.

How is Be Well different from a chiropractic or physical therapy clinic?

Most clinics focus only on the muscles and joints. We specialize in neurological and energetic repair—working directly with the brain, nerves, and circulation using gentle methods like neuroacupuncture and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). These treatments address the root causes of post-accident pain: inflammation, dysregulation, and nervous system overwhelm.

What's the difference between acupuncture and neuroacupuncture?

Neuroacupuncture specifically targets neurological pathways and brain function. It combines traditional acupuncture with modern neuroscience to address issues like brain fog, dizziness, and nervous system dysregulation common after accidents.

⚙️ Treatment & Results

How soon should I start care after an accident?

The sooner the better—ideally within the first few weeks. Early regulation of inflammation and the stress response prevents long-term issues like chronic pain, insomnia, and brain fog. We can help even if your accident was months ago.

What treatments does Be Well offer for MVA recovery?

We create individualized care plans that may include: Neuroacupuncture to regulate the brain-body connection, HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) to speed tissue and brain recovery, gentle bodywork and craniosacral therapy to relieve pain and restore mobility, and medical nutrition and pacing support to reduce inflammation and fatigue. All services are trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and tailored to your unique needs.

Will my treatment hurt or make things worse?

No. Our approach is gentle and safety-first. We work with your body's thresholds, not against them. Many patients find our sessions deeply calming and restorative—even when other treatments have felt too intense.

How long will it take to feel better?

Most patients notice improvement in 3–6 sessions. The full course depends on the type and severity of injury, but our integrated model typically produces faster and more lasting results than single-modality care.

What if I already saw a chiropractor or physical therapist?

That's fine! We often collaborate with other providers. Our treatments address the neurological and energetic layers that traditional rehab doesn't cover, helping your other therapies work better.

Can Be Well help with concussion or post-concussion syndrome?

Yes. Our team specializes in concussion and mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) using non-invasive methods like neuroacupuncture, HBOT, and gentle somatic therapies that restore brain oxygenation, balance, and cognitive clarity.

Can HBOT really help with brain fog and fatigue?

Yes! Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy increases oxygen delivery to injured brain tissue, reduces inflammation, and supports cellular healing. Many patients report clearer thinking and improved energy after HBOT sessions.

💸 Insurance, PIP & Access

Does Be Well accept PIP or auto insurance for accident care?

Yes. We are fully PIP/MVA-friendly and work with all major auto insurers. Our admin team helps you complete paperwork, coordinate with your adjuster, and make sure treatment is covered.

Do I need a referral to start care?

No referral is needed. You can text our MVA Intake Line or book your first appointment online. If an attorney or provider referred you, we'll coordinate with them directly.

What if I don't have a lawyer yet?

That's okay. We'll help you navigate your claim and can share trusted referral partners if needed. Our documentation meets legal standards for personal injury cases.

What happens after I submit my PIP claim or referral?

Our admin team will contact you within one business day to confirm coverage and schedule your intake with one of our neuroacupuncture or HBOT specialists. We guide you every step of the way.

🧭 Scheduling & Coordination

Who should I contact to start treatment?

You can text our MVA Intake Line or call our front desk directly. Our admin team (not the referring coordinator) will match you with the right provider and handle your PIP paperwork.

Who will I see for my first visit?

Most patients start with a neuroacupuncture intake with Paige or Viktor. From there, we may add gentle bodywork (Brandy) or HBOT sessions depending on your goals.

Do you work with attorneys or other clinics?

Yes. Many of our patients come through personal injury attorneys, imaging centers, and other clinics that focus on evaluations. We provide concise, attorney-ready documentation and progress updates so everyone stays informed.

Can you coordinate care with my primary doctor or counselor?

Absolutely. Our integrative model is designed to complement your existing care. We can share updates, coordinate labs, and co-manage complex cases when needed.

🌿 Philosophy & Healing Approach

Why do you emphasize nervous system regulation in recovery?

Because healing only happens when the body feels safe. Accidents activate the fight-flight-freeze response. Our treatments reset the vagus nerve and restore calm, which allows the body to repair inflammation and pain more effectively.

How does trauma-informed care affect my recovery?

Many post-accident symptoms—anxiety, pain flares, emotional swings—are signs of an overactive nervous system. Our trauma-informed practitioners work slowly, with full consent and collaboration, so your body learns it's safe to release tension.

Is Be Well LGBTQIA+ affirming?

Yes. Our clinic was built by and for people who value inclusivity, safety, and respect. You don't have to mask or explain yourself here.

🧾 Legal & Documentation

What kind of documentation do you provide for attorneys or insurance?

We provide clean, concise documentation: initial evaluation reports, progress notes, treatment cost estimates, and re-evaluation summaries tied to functional outcomes. Treatment notes and summaries are written in clear, attorney-ready language that meet medical necessity and causation standards.

Do you testify or provide records?

We provide thorough records and, when appropriate, can coordinate provider statements regarding medical necessity and injury-related causation.

How quickly do you respond to attorney or adjuster requests?

We typically respond within 1–2 business days and are ha

Can you share records with my other providers?

Yes, with your permission. We can coordinate with chiropractors, PTs, or mental health professionals to create a unified care plan.

What if my PIP runs out or I'm working with another clinic?

We provide smooth transitions between PIP, third-party, and health insurance, and ensure continuity of care and clear billing handoffs when accident benefits are exhausted or claims evolve.
